Course news

What a difference a week makes

Following the snow of the previous week, we finally had some dry and settled weather. I played nine holes last Wednesday and although there were some wet areas, on the whole the course was coming too.

A dry Thursday and Friday allowed Rob and his team to cut greens and tees ready for Saturdays competition, which was played over 18 holes on full greens. There was much more of a buzz around the Club over the weekend with 96 members entering the Captain’s Farewell 3-Person Team.

We also welcomed St. Anne's Golf Society on Sunday morning, this was a re-scheduled booking from a couple of weeks ago.

Now the clocks have gone forward for the Summer, fingers crossed the weather will be kind to us all.

Coaching news

Junior Academy

Six Juniors attended the Saturday coaching session. We worked on long putts and chipping and then played a par 3. Some great tee shots were made with two of the group putting for a birdie and par.

The putting competition was won by Kaleb following a sudden death playoff with Callum. I think we were all pleased that we didn't need too many layers on, especially the mums and dads who turn out in all weathers to support our youngest members.

Latest news, offers and arrivals

It was great to see a few more people around the Club and Shop last week. We saw quite a few faces that have been in hibernation since well before Christmas. For those of you who haven't been into the Shop for a while, we have made some big changes since December.

You'll see a new layout and a much lighter and brighter Pro Shop following the new lighting installed last month, along with a wider range of products and the most custom club fitting options in the studio we've ever had available!

You will have probably seen the Titleist 4 for 3 promotion running on their Pro V1 ball. This year you can order these from the comfort of your own arm chair by visiting my website www.marktylergolf.co.uk.

Our first order was received just 10 minutes after an email was sent out last Sunday. This order was delivered to the Shop on Thursday morning, personalised and with the play number chosen by our customer.... now that's fast!

US Masters draw

The first Major of the year is now only just over a week away.

I like many of you will be glued to the TV for the four days for what is sure to be one of the most exciting Masters Tournament for years.

The extra hype now a certain Tiger Woods is back in the mix, and the incredible play from Rory of late will make the back nine on Masters Sunday a must watch.

The Masters Pro Shop draw is now up and running. For those of you unsure about how this works, you simply pick a square (£5.00 each), write your name on the board and then after the 2-round cut, we will randomly draw a player out of the hat and allocate him to your square.

All entry fees are returned to the prize pot and the top five players are paid out in the form of Pro Shop vouchers.

You can purchase as many squares as you like to increase your odds. These draws are very popular so make sure you see us in the shop next time you're up at the Club to avoid disappointment.
