Welcome to this week's newsletter. This week we have received some great feedback on the course, the competitive season gets off to a good start, my coaching diary is getting busier by the day, time to tighten up your short game, why buying from me doesn’t simply finish over the counter and it’s time to book yourself on tour! Enjoy the read! |
Great feedback With the main playing season now underway, we have had a good number of members, guests and visitors enjoying the course. Last Sunday we welcomed two visiting groups, The Shant Golf Society and The New Inn, Calverley. We have received very good feedback from many of the visitors playing over the last couple of weeks, which is a real credit to Rob and his team, following a very challenging period of weather! A good start to the season! The Seniors continued with their winning form, beating Crow Nest Park GC 3-2 at home in last week’s friendly match. Hopefully this will rub off onto the other sections of the club as the league matches commence over the next couple of weeks or so.

Be clear…. practice makes permanent! The lesson diary has been fairly busy of late, as golfers book in for their early season coaching. If you like to use the driving range and practice ground to work on your game, it's really important to have a clear focus and not just practice the bad habits! West Bradford member Steve Gallagher booked a lesson early last week. I identified two areas which required improvement, the first being an adjustment in weight at address to a more ‘centered’ position instead of the heals. This promotes a much more balanced movement throughout the swing, essential for consistent ball striking. Secondly, we worked on a more ‘committed’ approach to his follow through to ensure the bigger muscles in the body were involved and there was a clear end to the swing. Steve obviously took this on board, as the following day he finished 2nd with his team in the Bradford Union Alliance held at Shipley!

How’s your short game? I have delivered several short game sessions recently and wanted to remind you all that this area of the game shouldn’t be ignored! The practice area at the club is superb to work on pitching, chipping, bunkers and putting. Lessons can be booked on a specific area of the short game or structured to cover various different shots. If you’ve never had a short game lesson, then why not talk to us about how we can improve your game!
