It’s all about the teamwork! It was a clean sweep for the gent’s teams last week. Thursday saw the Rabbits see off Cleckheaton 6-0 at home, Friday started with an 8-0 win for the Seniors’ Lawrence Batley players against Hanging Heaton. Friday afternoon was a 5-3 win for the 8-15's against Calverley followed by an 8-0 home win for the Scratch team against Clayton! Well done to everyone involved!

Champion Golfer Dane It was a very busy week for Rob and the team preparing the course for last Sunday’s Bradford & District 36 Hole Amateur Championship. The course was in superb condition and proved a real test for a select field of 36 of the district's elite players, who competed for the prestigious title of Amateur Champion. West Bradford was represented by six of our members who all gave it their best. Eventual winner with rounds of 73 and 68 was our very own Dane Bairstow. Click here for the full leaderboard. Congratulations Dane, you did yourself and everyone at West Bradford proud.

Is your game heading in the right direction?
Virtually every golfer I’ve met over the years would happily trade distance for accuracy. What use is hitting the ball a long way if you can’t find the fairway or even the semi-rough? This week I gave a lesson to a client who struck the ball well but just kept missing the target to the left. Following a small grip adjustment and a simple swing drill to practice, the results were truly astounding! From missing the fairway left by as much as 30 to 40 yards, the client’s shots flew considerably straighter. By the end of the 30-minute session, I estimate 80% of shots were within at least 10 yards of the intended target, now that’s a result. Below is a screen shot of one of the shots hit with a 7-iron. Check out the end column labelled ‘Offline’….0.0 yards! If you want to find out how to hit more fairways and greens then consider booking a lesson, it may be the best decision you make this year. Call us on 01274 542767 or click here to book your lesson today. |
Ladies group lesson pays off
A special mention goes to Lady member Mavis Kunz who won the Ladies’ Sponsors Day Competition last week. Mavis has attended the first two group coaching sessions which run fortnightly on Wednesday mornings. It just goes to show that coaching really does pay off! For more information on these group sessions contact the Pro Shop or click here.

We’re sure the majority of you will agree that having a distance device on the course is a huge benefit, going hand-in-hand with knowing how far you hit each club. For those of you in the market for a laser rangefinder or GPS device, here are a few options within Garmin’s range to suit different preferences. |
Pinpoint laser accuracy There's one standout feature to Garmin's Z80 laser rangefinder that sets it apart from all others on the market. As well as giving precise distances up to 350 yards away, the Z80 also includes hole maps that are integrated into the viewfinder, which display the shape of the hole and provide front and back distances when you lock on to the flag. |
|
Information at a glance If you prefer wearable technology, Garmin has both GPS watches and bands to suit all styles. The Approach S60 watch, seen here on the left, boasts colour hole maps, hazard information and offers front, middle and back yardages. The other, the Approach X40 band, is a slim, lightweight and waterproof wristband that gives you distances to the green and to hazards, as well as heart rate and activity tracking. |
