Welcome to this week's newsletter, bringing you all the latest news, events and offers from here at West Bradford Golf Club. This week we recap on a few lessons and fittings from the past week, did you know PING offer 4 different driver head designs, the TaylorMade fairways impress again, the course is looking greener and there’s just one week left until the Benross Demo Day! Enjoy the read. |
When a lesson takes a turn! It has been busy week in the studio, particularly with club fittings. PING and TaylorMade continue to be the big two names with our customers choosing either the G400 range or TaylorMade's M4. Both brands offer premium quality products and performance to match. I’d like to share a story from last week which highlights the importance of correctly fitted equipment. I gave a lesson to a customer who stood around 6ft 2” tall but was using a set of irons which were just too short. The lesson started and a grip change was made which corrected a hook shot. I explained that to fully maximise a golfer’s potential, lessons were essential, but also so was the equipment being used. I offered my customer a more modern club design with a longer shaft and immediately there was an improvement in ball striking. The planned lesson then became a club fitting and after around 40 minutes a set of PING G irons with longer shafts, more upright lie and thicker grips were recommended for him... the clubs are due to arrive later this week!

Which PING driver is right for you? The current G400 range of drivers offers four different variations of head: Standard, SFT (straight flight technology), LST (low spin), or MAX. Each head/shaft has an adjustable loft sleeve which allows changes of up to 1 degree either way. During a driver fitting last week I was able to recommend the 10-degree SFT head (more weight towards the heel) fitted with a regular graphite shaft and a loft adjustment of +0.6 degrees (which also closes the clubface slightly) and standard size grip. Although this alone didn’t stop my customer fading the ball, it helped reduce his left to right spin resulting in increased distance and more fairways hit! Request your fitting here. |

TaylorMade fairway impresses! If you haven’t tried any of this year’s TaylorMade products yet you might just be missing out! The superb look and feel of these clubs really takes some beating, which is why so many of the world’s best players trust the brand. M3 fairways have adjustable loft sleeves and weighting whilst the M4 has a fixed hosel and no weight slider. One of our customers last week chose an M4 5-wood fitted with the fantastic Mitsubishi Tensei Blue 65 stiff shaft and latest Golf Pride MCC midsize Align grip. Never settle for clubs straight out of a rack, come and talk to us about clubs properly fitted for your game!

Are you ready? I would like to highlight two of my lessons from last week and talk about the importance of a golfer being ‘ready’ to swing. Client 1 (below) was stood extremely upright which resulted in his hands and arms hanging too close to the body. Due to the lack of space at address, this can lead to a number of mishit shots including hitting the ground before the ball at impact, which was one of his problem areas. Notice in picture two how his spine angle is more tilted allowing his arms to hang freely of the body.
|
Client 2 (below) was over tilted at address which compromised his balance (too much weight towards his toes) and restricted his body rotation (head too much down and on his chest). Picture two shows the spine angle more upright and the head clear of the chest. Both clients had noticeable improvements in ball striking and are now on their way to playing better golf!

Let there be water! The fairways may be brown in colour due to all the hot, dry, sunny weather, but the greens are looking much better thanks to all the hard work of Rob and a number of members who have given up their time to help out. Following the locating of the new water source on the course, the greens have received much more water and the results over the past two weeks are now there to be seen. Pictured here is the 10th green and 17th hole with green in the distance. Great work guys!

It was great to see several of you asking about Motocaddy’s new M-Series range of electric trolleys following last week’s newsletter. However, we know that electric trolleys aren’t for everyone, so make sure you take a look at Motocaddy’s push options too, which also feature some fantastic technology. |
Small and mighty This new Motocaddy CUBE CONNECT push trolley isn’t electric, but it has many of the same benefits as Motocaddy’s flagship models, including a soft-touch handle, Quikfold frame and Easilock base. Most impressive however, is that it provides yardages to the front, middle and back of every green, making it the world's only GPS enabled push trolley. If all that’s not enough, you’ll also enjoy generous storage space, including an under-handle net and accessory compartment. This is just one of the trolley options we offer, so if you’re looking for something with more features or that folds smaller, why not pop by the store and check out our whole range? |
