A customers journey…

I’d like to share with you a customer’s recent experience of fitting and lessons at Bracken Ghyll, enjoy the read…

“I’ve been lugging around the same putter and driver for years now and the wife finally gave me the go-ahead to replace them. I met Mark last year at West Bradford Golf Club and followed him to Addingham’s Bracken Ghyll for a few lessons so he seemed the right person to give advice.

Mark showed me a range of drivers instore and we began trying some out. I’m usually happy with a range of around 200 yards on a decent hit. When creamed, these guys were sending the ball 230 or more! We soon narrowed the choice down to the TaylorMade M5 or M6. The technology told us what kind of loft, spin, club speed, and ball speed we were getting. We played with the adjustable weights and the flex of the shaft. For each change the computer calculated averages giving us a clue about which would suit me best. An hour later we decided on the M6 TaylorMade.

It was then the putter’s turn. Mark narrowed down my budget and explained the different types. I decided on a particular style and then we took five or six putters out onto the green. A mirror allowed me to see that my left eye was over the ball and alignment was correct. Mark then tweaked my stance so my grip was slightly higher and sat differently on the green. Then it was pretty much a case of trying each putter a number of times. We narrowed it down to two models by TaylorMade before choosing the less weighty one more suited to the fast greens where I usually play.

We then headed onto Bracken Ghyll for a lesson. It was a pleasure cranking balls up the course. Even, mis-hits that would usually land me in the trees were landing on the fairway! The softer feeling of the putter and more solid contact has reduced the number of shots it takes to get in the hole. (Or at least my shots are closer to where they need to be!) Thanks, Mark for helping me improve my game this summer. Next time let’s look at replacing my 20-year-old Honma irons!”

A ball for every occasion

Let’s be honest: we're greedy when it comes to our golf ball, and rightly so. We don’t want to have to choose between distance or feel; instead, we want a ball that offers us the lot.

Picture the scenario
