Bradford Union Winter Alliance

Finally a few dry days has seen a much improved course condition with ride-on buggies back in operation.

Wednesday was the return of the Bradford Union Winter Alliance to Bracken Ghyll. 156 players from around the area enjoyed dry and sunny weather, with a tremendous score of 46 points (over 17 holes) winning.

Here is a picture taken from the patio at sunrise, ahead of the first tee off in the Alliance.

Winter Checklist

Here’s a quick reminder of stock available in the shop to ensure you’re ‘Winter Ready’…

Junior Section Update

Both of the weekly Junior Coaching Sessions are still proving popular, as we attract the younger golfers from the area. Ages are varied, starting from as young as 5 up to 14.

Only one week until the start of the 2019/20 Studio Winter League!

We are now only one-week away until the start of the 2019/20 Studio Winter League. The chosen course for November is...

Royal Troon Golf Club (front 9 holes).
Men - White Tees.
Ladies/Juniors - Red Tees.

Here’s how it works:

One-off Entry Fee -£30 per person.

Format - 9-Hole Individual Stableford (full handicap) played monthly November to February on a pre-selected course (tee used / weather conditions etc. will vary).

Prizes - Monthly winner and the best three scores from four to decide the league prizes 1st and 2nd.

Book your monthly game on a day/time convenient for you, individually or as part of a group (max.4 players).

Sign-up and play your first 9-holes before Saturday 30th November.

Open to all so why not invite a friend from a local club or a work colleague, and combine it with a few drinks and meal from the clubhouse?

Where has this year gone? We'll soon be into November and with that comes some unpredictable weather, which is why a well-layered outfit is key to enjoying your golf over the winter.

October has always been difficult to predict. One minute it's warm enough for just a polo and the next you need an all-singing, all-dancing raincoat. This is why having a lightweight mid-layer is vital to bridge the gap and have you covered whatever the weather.

Who had a pair of these?

I'm sure the shoes below will make a lot of you smile. It's been a long time since golf shoes looked like the first image and it's safe to say that comfort, style and traction have all come a long way since then - even if some of us think the overlapping tongues looked great!

Old style shoes

It wasn't just the daring uppers and striking tongue that defined golf shoes from yesteryear; flip the shoes upside down and the hard leather outsole featured single metal spikes that resembled weapons more so than traction pods.

Modern golf shoes

Spotlight | TaylorMade P790 irons
